one of utahs best kept secrets

these pictures are all out of order. a horse ride for jackson and then after the horse ride, we went to the barbershop so he could get a shave!

This is the Place Park, Salt Lake City, UT. Thank you to my friend, Alicia, for introducing us to this gem! It's a park based around the pioneers. Even the workers are dressed up in pioneer outfits so you get the full experience. I've always had a real love and appreciation for the pioneers, so this park really touches my heart. I wasn't sure what my kids would think. At first, they didn't really get it, but they really loved every minute of it, once they started getting into it. we got a membership so we will be going weekly!

we finally went here with my friend Alicia and her kids. this is hands down one of Utah's best kept secrets. my kids had SO MUCH FUN, they didn't want to leave, and they have been asking to go back everyday since.

they did tons of chores at the first pioneer house we went to. the famous question - why don't they do chores so willingly at our house?

what a view!

happily ironing -Logan asked the cute Pioneer woman that was helping the kids (she worked there) -"are you happy that we are doing all of your chores for you?" it was so funny!

happily folding the linens

then a train ride
with their friends who they ask for daily!

then the schoolhouse with desks and chalkboards like the pioneer children used to use.

alicia had to wear the naughty hat!

jackson, the school teacher

finally the teacher came in and read the kids stories...

then took them outside and played games with them. See why they LOVED this place?

then we went over and looked at the baby animals

and got pony rides

the schoolhouse

the huntsman hotel

a view from the street barbershop looking down the way.

Has a sort of Little House on the Prairie Feel! I love the shots of the kids doing the laundry and plowing the fields and Jackson being teacher. You asked why they don't do chores at home....its because you don't have the fancy outdoor gear as they did back then;-)

Neat place!

FUN! I see that Abi helped you do chores at the Gardner Cabin, and Carolyn taught you school! I love all those ladies! You'll have to come up in the summer when we're working so we can see you and all your cute kids!

I went there to apply for an internship 10 years ago give or take... it's changed a LOT since then.

Looks like a lot of fun though!
