When My Uncle Died...

Jackson brought home a book he wrote at school called, "When My Uncle Died." I didn't know he was even writing it. He thinks our cousin Matt, is his uncle because his little cousins that he adores and loves to play with always called Matt, "Uncle Matt" because he was indeed, their uncle. So my kids always call him, "Uncle Matt" as well. It's amazing how perceptive kids are. We miss you like crazy, Matt!
"My uncle died because he had a heart problem.

So we went to California.

It was sad.

Then they put him in some weird truck.

And late at night they buried him and then they put the gravestone on top of where they buried him.

Consider the Lillies of the field... one of my alltime favorite songs. I have a CD of the MoTab singing this song because it's always been my favorite. It was sung at Matt's funeral. I heard it in church the other day, I will always remember Matt now when I hear that song.
"Consider the lillies of the field, how they grow, how they grow. Consider the birds of the sky, how they fly, how they fly. He clothes the lillies of the field. He feeds the birds in the sky and He will feed those who trust him and Guide him with His eye.
Consider the sheep of his fold, how they follow where he leads. Thou the path may wind across the mountains, He knows the meadows where they feed. He clothes the lillies of the field.
Consider the sweet tender children, who must suffer on this earth.
The pains of all of them, he carried from the day of his birth.
He will heal those who trust Him, and make their hearts of gold."

If you haven't heard this song before, go to this link. It's so beautiful!

jen, that was really sweet. it is so interesting to see how this affects the young ones and how they express their sadness. i think when they are at school and they have a blank page in front of them, it feels like a really safe place to express themselves. thanks for sharing it with us! xoxo
